Is taking on the role of Mayor a challenge?
I view it more as an opportunity to change things, to introduce a different system. We plan to add a human and local dimension by creating an ongoing dialogue with citizens, and working with discipline and professionalism. On a day-to-day basis, this approach might not always be easy, but I’m sure it will produce good results. We need to make sure that we don’t rush into things. Our philosophy must be based on a combination of change and maintaining existing structures.
This role must demand a great deal of commitment...
Family life suffers because politics demands a great deal of commitment, that goes without saying, but it is also very rewarding! I like to feel useful, to do my bit for the society I live in. The opportunity to work as part of a team is also a great experience. My role is to lead and coordinate this team.
Are lifestyle and wellbeing your priorities?
I am a child of the village: I view its people, buildings, environment and mobility as a whole. The most crucial problem facing our village at the moment is its planning and future. We need to protect our village. It’s a great place to live, it’s our home.
